Charlotte Businesses Awarded $10,000 Grants from M&F Bank
Charlotte-based businesses CoolWood Urban Forestry and Simply Skin Face and Body Spa have been awarded $10,000 grants from M&F Bank, North Carolina's only bank owned by people of color. The grants are part of M&F's rebrand "Empowering Growth." It’s also part of the bank's partnership with the Fiserv Back2Business Program. Back in 2023, the bank joined the Small Business Administration's Preferred Lender Program, allowing the M&F to provide with faster turnaround times on loan applications to small businesses. CoolWood, an arborist service specializing in tree pruning, tree care, and tree removal will use the $10,000 for equipment upgrades. CoolWood Urban Forestry owner Dustin Counts said he was honored to receive the grant and that banking with M&F keeps money in the community where they live and work.
